Urge Congress to Build on the President’s Budget
President Biden recommended preserving investments in local public media stations as part of his annual budget request. As Congress drafts the annual spending bills, urge your legislators now to build on the President’s proposal by increasing public media funding.
After a decade of flat funding, coupled with a financially challenging year for stations during COVID-19, increasing investments in public media is vital for the long-term health of local public media stations.
Legislators are submitting their annual funding priorities to the appropriations subcommittees that determine the amount of federal funding each program receives. The subcommittees are using proposals from Members of Congress, the Administration, and constituents to draft the annual spending bills now. Contacting your legislators today will strengthen local public media stations’ prospects for securing increased funding in the annual spending bills.
