About the Public Media Support Letters
In response to public media supporters’ recent calls for increased funding, Members of Congress are asking their colleagues to sign letters endorsing federal funding for public media.
The letters will be delivered to the Appropriations subcommittees responsible for determining the amount of funding public media stations will receive. The subcommittees use these letters to measure support for public media and draft their annual appropriations bills.
Collecting a significant number of congressional signatures will:
- Show the subcommittees that Congress, like most Americans, broadly supports federal funding for public media.
- Persuade the subcommittees to propose healthy investments for local public radio and television stations in the draft Fiscal Year 2024 funding bills.
