Tell Congress: Support the President’s Public Media Funding Proposal

For the first time in several years, the President’s budget request recommends increasing investments in public media — a significant step and sign of progress for more than 1,500 local public media stations across the country.

Now, Members of Congress are reviewing the President’s proposals and establishing their own funding priorities for Fiscal Year 2023. During this important moment, we must email our legislators in support of upholding the President’s request to boost public media funding.

Through our network’s advocacy, we’ve begun to reverse the effects of ten years of frozen federal funding and the financial losses due to the pandemic. We must keep this momentum going to continue to improve the financial health of local public media stations and their public services that Americans depend on.

Increased federal support will allow public media stations to fill critical local journalism gaps, help bridge the digital divide in education, expand lifesaving emergency alerts, support jobseekers, and contribute to cultural preservation and discovery.

Ensuring Congress hears widespread public support for public media now will be essential to securing vital resources. Your messages will set the stage for the actions Congress will take on public media funding until the final amounts are determined later this year.
