For more than 20 years, federal funding helped support public media’s Interconnection System and the periodic updates needed to keep pace with changes in broadcast technology. With that federal support eliminated, stations now face new pressure to maintain the infrastructure that allows them to deliver programming and public safety information to communities nationwide.
When we ask Congress to restore federal funding for local public media stations, we are asking lawmakers to help protect the local service and shared infrastructure stations rely on to reach the public.
