Urge Congress: Restore Public Media Funding

In a devastating setback for public media, Congress has rescinded $1.1 billion in previously approved federal funding.

But the fight to protect public media isn’t over. Congress is now advancing its Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 appropriations process, and we have an opportunity to restore this vital funding. Call your Members of Congress and urge them restore federal funding for public media.

After entering your information, click “Call Your Lawmaker.” A blue screen with talking points will appear. Scroll down and click the same button again to initiate the call. You will receive a call from 202-831-2420, which will connect your Members of Congress’s offices. If you have trouble connecting through the patch-through, you can look up their contact information at Congress.gov. Please call their Washington, D.C. office.

The loss of funding is already hitting home. Stations are cancelling local programs, cutting back educational outreach, and struggling to stay on the air. For rural and Tribal stations, the stakes are even higher – if they go dark, entire communities could lose local media altogether. We must speak with one voice: restoring funding is essential to keep local stations running, safeguard life-saving emergency communications, and ensure every community continues to have access to research-backed educational resources, local information, culture, and connection.

Please note all form fields are required by congressional offices to receive your message.
