Urge Congress: Restore Public Media Funding

In a devastating setback for public media, Congress has rescinded $1.1 billion in previously approved federal funding.

But the fight to protect public media isn’t over. Congress is now advancing its Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 appropriations process, and we have an opportunity to restore this vital funding. Call your Members of Congress and urge them restore federal funding for public media.

After entering your information, click “Call Your Lawmaker.” A blue screen with talking points will appear. Scroll down and click the same button again to initiate the call. You will receive a call from 202-831-2420, which will connect your Members of Congress’s offices. If you have trouble connecting through the patch-through, you can look up their contact information at Congress.gov. Please call their Washington, D.C. office.

Securing funding through the FY 2026 process will be an uphill battle. We must speak with one voice to make clear: this investment – about $1.60 per person per year – is essential. More than 70% of Corporation for Public Broadcasting funding goes directly to local stations. This keeps rural, small, and Tribal stations on the air, safeguards life-saving emergency communications, boosts children’s educational outcomes, supports teachers and job seekers, and ensures local information, culture, and connection reach every corner of the country.

Please note all form fields are required by congressional offices to receive your message.
