Senate Spending Bill Includes Public Media Funding

This week, the Senate Appropriations Committee passed a Fiscal Year 2019 spending bill that included funding for public media.

The House Appropriations Committee postponed consideration of its draft version of the bill, which also includes funding for public media.

While the appropriations process is far from over, congressional outreach by viewers and listeners has helped put us in a good position moving forward.

This success wasn’t easy. During challenging fiscal times, securing funding is only possible because hundreds of thousands of advocates across the country are contacting Congress in support of public media funding.

Soon, we may need public media supports to speak up again:

  • Next, the full Senate may consider the funding bill.
  • The House Appropriations Committee could vote on its bill in the coming weeks.

Protect My Public Media will send out an action alert if there are any challenges to funding.
